How Do Fabric Releases Work?

Whimsy Fabrics are perfect for home sewing projects and for businesses looking to create products with our fabrics.

Our fabric releases happen as a limited pre order, which makes them exclusive and special.

We always release our new collections as a pre order, so you can secure the fabric base and design that you’re after without the stress of missing out.

We do release any remaining fabric once all the pre orders have been shipped. These cuts and designs are limited and sell quite quickly.

About Our Fabrics

Core Fabrics

Our soft flowy cotton sateen is 110gsm, 100% cotton and 144cm wide. Our cotton sateen fabric is super light, lux and flowy. It has the slightest sheen and a teeny bit of stretch. Sateen is perfect for Summer clothing, dresses, pjs, pillowcases or soft homewares.

Our versatile cotton poplin is 140gsm, 100% cotton and 144cm wide. Our poplin is super versatile and is a beautiful crisp cotton making it perfect for clothing, quilting, accessories and homewares. Poplin is a great all-rounder. If you loved our light or midweight fabric then poplin is for you!

Our cotton canvas is like a drill and is 250gsm, 100% cotton and 149cm wide. Our canvas is perfect for sewing projects that need more structure – tote bag, clutches, planters and is great for structured clothing too.

Seasonal Fabrics

Our cotton lycra is 250gsm, is made up of 95% cotton & 5% spandex and is 159cm wide. Cotton Lycra is a knit fabric and has two way stretch, it’s super comfy and great for kids clothing, dresses, tees & leggings. This fabric is great for the cooler months and in between seasons.

Our french terry fabric is 280gsm, it’s 95% cotton 5% spandex and 159cm wide. It has a smooth printed side, which looks the same as the cotton lycra, and on the reverse side the fabric is looped back, making it soft and cozy. This fabric is great for lightweight sweaters and lounge wear.

Our stunning cotton linen blend is 135gsm, 50% cotton & 50% linen and 137cm wide. Our Linen fabric is soft with texture to it and is perfect for clothing or soft homewares/accessories.

Please note that we have changed up some of our fabric bases. We wanted to offer a variety of fabrics and expand our range. Rest assured that these fabrics are just as beautiful and vibrant as our original whimsy fabrics.

Fabric Returns & Exchanges

Unfortunately we do not accept returns due to a change of mind or if the fabric was not what you expected.

We do offer the option to order fabric swatches, so please ensure you choose your fabrics carefully.

Please note that due to the nature of digital printing and cotton fibres, from time to time minor flaws may appear in the fabric.

We do our very best to inspect the fabric during the cutting process, if your fabric has a flaw please contact us whimsykaleidoscope@gmail.com with an image of the flaw and we can discuss your options.

Please note that the feel & colour saturation of the same design/substrate may vary if fabrics are from a different production runs.

Please note that colour saturation can vary on different fabric bases in the same production run. This is due to the manufacturing process and how the fabrics absorb colour.

If you wish to compare the fabric you have received with a sample, the cost of shipping the sample will be the responsibility of the customer.

We do our very best to ensure your fabric is provided in a continuous metre. Due to production processes/fabric flaws, we may not be able to provide you with a continuous metre. If this is the case we will contact you prior to shipping your fabric.

We cannot accept exchanges if you have changed your mind, washed your fabric, not taken note of the scale, colours or fabric type.
